This one is a question that splits opinions, not for me though. Alot of gardeners recommend cutting back your dying back herbaceous plants to keep the garden tidy through the winter.
I dont agree with this as in my opinion when herbaceous plants die back the foliage that covers the crown of the plant is actual doing a job. This foliage creates a blanket to protect the plants roots and crown so when the frost arrives, your plant is ready.
This may not look as pretty during the winter months but it will give the plant a much better chance through winter months.
